Pre-Twinkle Together

What is it?

This 8-week session is for caregivers and children aged 3-5 (2.5 year olds will be accepted on a case-by-case basis). The goal of this program is to foster a love of music, grow the bond between parent and child, and lay the foundations for the study of a stringed instrument.

What do we learn?

  • Children are introduced the concepts rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics and the other elements of music through singing, clapping and movement.

  • Children begin to develop a knowledge of their instruments using “Twinklin” violins and bows.

  • Children begin to develop the physical discipline, endurance and dexterity required to play a stringed instrument with MyTwinkleMats and their “Twinklin” violins.

  • Children learn to hold the violin and bow, develop fine posture and left hand position.

  • Together, we explore the rhythms of Twinkle Variations (Suzuki Violin Method, Volume 1)

  • Together, we begin to develop active listening and foster the bond between parent and child.

  • Between classes, we begin to grow the habits of daily practice in a joyful and supported way (ideally, a commitment of 5-10 minutes a day, 5 days a week)
