Looking for a way to stay engaged over the summer? Try AVIVA’s Virtual or Montreal-based Summer Session.

  • Who is it for? You violinists of any level, from any program or teacher.

  • What is included? All of the activities listed below! Students can participate in the VIRTUAL PROGRAM from anywhere in the world with an internet connection and a webcam.

  • What can I expect? Top-notch teaching, support for all the things you’re working on with your home teacher, connections to other young violinists from around the world, weekly lesson notes, and a summer full of growing in your music making.

Summer session 2019

Private lessons (Weekly, times vary) The summer session package includes one or two private lessons a week via WebCam. Students also have the option to take lessons at their convenience by scheduling them online. Either way, we’ll contact your home teacher to make sure that we're working on things that support his or her learning plan for you.

Group performance classes - These classes hosted on that zoom platform allow violinists of all ages and abilities to connect in a master class setting, gain valuable performance experience, give and receive feedback, and learn from others as they work I'm teaching points throughout.  All classes are hosted by Mary Elizabeth. A maximum of eight participants is allowed per class so that everyone has a chance to receive personalized attention. Extra classes will be added according to demand and TimeZone availability. (included in summer session tuition or $20 per student per class )

  • THURSDAY JULY 18, 3-4:30 EASTERN

  • MONDAY JULY 29, NOON-1:30 EASTERN

  • THURSDAY AUGUST 15, 1:45-3:45 EASTERN

Guest Masterclass - Also hosted on the zoom platform, this is a similar class to the performance class, but is hosted by a guest clinician.  A maximum of eight participants is allowed per class so that everyone has a chance to receive personalized attention. Extra classes will be added according to demand and TimeZone availability. (included in summer session tuition or $20 per student per class)

  • TUESDAY AUGUST 13th at 10:30 am EASTERN

Musicianship classes (Pilot project) - These classes (Tuesdays at 11am Eastern) are open to any musician with an interest in string instruments. Hosted on the zoom platform, we will cover the following topics in these weekly seminars:

  • The History of Stringed Instruments

  • An Introduction to the Musical Eras

  • Introduction to the Orchestra

  • Listening to Music

  • Is it Noise or Music? (Exploring Modern Music)

  • Stringed instruments around the world

The class will extend to 90 minutes if needed. A minimum of 3 registered participants is required ($20 per class, or $ 85 for the series of six. Minimum of 3 participants per class)
